How to Search, Filter, and Sort Authorizations in SamaCare
Managing authorizations is easy with SamaCare’s powerful search, filter, and sort tools. Use the options below to quickly locate any prior authorization (PA) in your account.
Search Fields
- Find authorizations using any of these searchable fields:
- First Name: Patients first name
- Last Name: Patient's last name
- Patient MRN (EMR/EHR Integration Only): Patient Medical record number
- ID: SamaCare Auth ID (unique internal identifier for each PA)
- JCode: The JCode used when submitting the PA
- Drug Name: The medication name used when submitting the PA.
Pro Tip Each new authorization in SamaCare is assigned a unique SamaCare Auth ID. You can find this Auth ID in the URL of the authorization you are viewing. Example:

Filters
- Narrow your search even further with these filters. Click the dropdown arrow to view available options:
- All Assignees: All users in your practice.
- All Payers: All payers available in SamaCare
- All Prescribers: All providers for your practice
- All Locations: All locations in your practice
- Any DoS: Date of service for the medication or procedure
- Any Status: Different statuses of your authorizations
- All Portals: All supported portals in SamaCare
Pro Tip You can apply multiple filters at once to pinpoint a specific authorization or use just one for a broader view.

Archived & Expired PAs
Looking for archived or expired authorizations?
- Click the “eye” symbol in the top right corner to search archived PAs.
- Toggle “Expiring Only” to see expiring authorizations.
- Show Archived:
- Expiring Only:
Pro Tip When using “Expiring Only,” the “Any DoS” filter will switch to “already expired.”

- Click the up and down arrows near the top right to sort by:
- Service Date
- Last Updated
