What is SamaCare?

SamaCare is a tool that practices use to streamline the submission, tracking, and management of prior authorizations (PAs) for medical benefit drugs. SamaCare:


  • Gives practices a single website to submit medical benefit PAs, regardless of the payer or drug.
  • Replaces a manual process that relies on hundreds of different fax forms, multiple payer portals, and disparate spreadsheets with a digital process.


As a result, SamaCare practices often report spending up to half or even a quarter as much time working on PAs while also getting better visibility into the status of PAs across their practice. 


Does SamaCare change how long a payer takes to respond to a PA?

  • SamaCare does not alter a payer's process for responding to drug authorization requests. Instead, our focus is on ensuring that the payer receives the request in the exact format they expect, guaranteeing consistent processing regardless of whether you use SamaCare.
  • While we cannot influence a payer's internal processes, digitizing the response and providing a clear cover sheet can sometimes expedite their response time. Moreover, a centralized dashboard for Prior Authorizations can help practices identify and address delayed requests more swiftly.
  • As highlighted in our "Supported Drugs FAQs," SamaCare-supported drugs are generally resolved more quickly on average. This is due to our optimized processes and direct relationships with payers.

How can practices that use SamaCare get support?

Each practice utilizing SamaCare benefits from a dedicated success manager. Additionally, practices can connect with SamaCare through our live support chat, available Monday through Friday from 10 AM EST to 7 PM EST (7 AM PST to 4 PM PST).

Will SamaCare create prior authorizations on my behalf?

SamaCare does not generate prior authorizations on behalf of practices. Instead, SamaCare streamlines the process by automating certain data entry tasks, such as patient demographics, prescriber information, and practice details. However, practices are still responsible for completing the actual PA request.


SamaCare doesn’t replace the PA process; rather, it provides practices with a valuable tool to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of PA submissions.


Is there a cost to using SamaCare?

There is no cost to practices to use the SamaCare platform.

How long does it take to implement the SamaCare system, and what kind of training is there to use the system?

The implementation timeline for SamaCare depends on the speed at which each practice can provide the necessary information. While some implementations have been completed in as little as two weeks, others may take longer.


SamaCare offers comprehensive training to ensure a smooth transition and effective system usage. At the beginning of each implementation and as new users join the team, we provide live video-conferencing training sessions. These sessions cover all aspects of the system, from basic navigation to advanced features.
